Regular Korean Language Programme — KOREA UNIVERSITY

TEACHING INSTITUTIONKOREA UNIVERSITY
About this institution

Build Korean communication skills through Korea University’s Korean Language Center in Seoul. The regular programme has four seasonal terms, Levels 1–6 and an advanced option for Level 6 graduates. General-purpose study focuses on communication, while the academic-purpose option includes presentations, discussion, report writing and TOPIK preparation. The stated class capacity is 14; classes may not open if too few students are assigned. Levels, sessions and purpose options are parts of this programme, rather than separate degrees.

Qualification
Non-degree Korean language study
Teaching provider
KOREA UNIVERSITY
Campus
Korea University Korean Language Center, Seoul. The published centre office is Room 301, Korean Education Building, 41 Bugaksan-ro 27-gil, Seongbuk-gu. Confirm actual classrooms and any accommodation allocation separately.
Teaching language
Korean-language study; confirm the languages used for explanations, assessment and student support. English, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese contact support does not establish an English-taught or translated classroom programme.
Study mode
Weekday morning and afternoon sessions are listed. General-purpose morning classes cover Levels 1–6, afternoon classes Levels 1–5, with an advanced afternoon option; the academic-purpose option lists afternoon Levels 1–6. Confirm attendance format and session availability. The registration fee section also names an online class, but current online regular-course availability and its relationship to the separate online short course require confirmation.
Duration
Ten weeks per term. The weekday timetable lists four 50-minute lesson periods, with breaks within the 09:00–13:00 morning or 13:45–17:45 afternoon windows. These are alternative sessions, not eight daily teaching hours. Confirm the required number of terms for your placement, nationality and visa route; one year is a specific registration requirement for certain nationalities, not the standard length for everyone.
Entry requirements
The centre accepts overseas Koreans and foreign applicants with high-school graduation or equivalent educational ability. Submit the online application and the documents required for your category; the ordinary process requires documents by post or in person, with checklist-specific exceptions. Documents outside Korean, English or Chinese require a notarised Korean or English translation. Vietnamese, Mongolian and Uzbek nationals must register four terms together for one year and obtain separate document instructions. The ordinary Certificate of Admission route for D-4-1 study requires at least two terms registered together; do not apply that shorter minimum to the named four-term categories. Original documents for D-4 applicants must arrive at least two weeks before the deadline, and the centre advises submitting documents two to four weeks early. The ordinary D-4 bank-proof checklist requires at least KRW 10,000,000 in the applicant’s or parent’s name, recently issued financial proof, and relationship evidence if a parent is the holder. Vietnamese applicants have a separate deposit or bank-certificate condition, including a three-month balance-maintenance requirement for the stated bank-certificate route. Chinese applicants have their own education and household-document checklist; for the D-4 route, their bank certificate must be issued within one month and the balance frozen for at least six months. Confirm the exact bank, holder, recency, retention and parental-support evidence for your nationality. These balances are financial proof, not fees. Admission, visa approval, progression, TOPIK results and later degree admission are separate decisions.
Course fees
The registration page, last updated 7 August 2026, lists tuition of KRW 1,800,000 per term and a separate non-refundable KRW 120,000 application fee. Textbooks and transfer charges are additional. Tuition is adjusted each spring and may be reconciled after early registration, so this is not a confirmed personal 2027 invoice or an annual total. Evidence-dependent reductions include 10% for siblings or spouses studying together, and 20% for current Korea University students; only the highest applicable reduction applies. Ask about the other listed categories and your eligibility. The 2026 refund table uses instructional days, with staged refunds and no tuition refund from days 41–50; confirm the table for your term. Visa-refusal cancellation submitted by the day before classes starts can refund tuition while excluding the application fee. The listed Frontier dormitory charge is separately KRW 1,450,000 per term; applications are for new regular-course students and one term only, subject to allocation. Confirm housing, insurance and other living costs. Bank-balance requirements are not tuition or accommodation charges.
