Entry requirements
The following describes the 2026 guide’s category 2 international admission routes; confirm the category and current conditions that apply to you. The foreign-parent route requires a foreign applicant with both parents holding foreign nationality, excludes dual nationals and specifies nationality-acquisition timing before the stated high-school education stage. Other routes cover applicants who completed the whole required school education overseas and North Korean applicants under separate conditions; their evidence requirements are different. High-school graduation, expected graduation or recognised equivalent education is required under the applicable route. Confirm how your school system, study history and nationality dates are assessed. Transfer admission has separate prior university study and credit requirements and should not be treated as first-year admission. The guide describes document assessment and an interview assessed as pass or fail. Foreign-parent applicants’ documents include application and school records, the relevant family and nationality evidence for applicant and parents, financial guarantee documents and language evidence. The guide does not establish a bank-balance amount. Academic authentication uses the specified Apostille, consular or Chinese academic-verification alternatives; confirm which documents and current process apply to where you studied. Bring originals for comparison with copies and provide identity evidence if names differ. The guide requires initial applications to be submitted in person at the relevant office; registered post is allowed for additional documents. Confirm the current submission arrangements before sending originals. The brochure’s Apostille-country list is explicitly dated July 2023 and should not be treated as a current country list. The guide’s general category 2 language condition lists TOPIK level 3, or level 2 for applicants classified in arts, physical education, science or engineering; confirm your department’s classification. It also lists university Korean-language study or testing alternatives and certain Korean programmes at other four-year universities. The TOPIK and listed Korean-alternative routes carry a TOPIK level 4 graduation note. The English-evidence alternative lists TOEFL 550, CBT 210, iBT 59, IELTS 5.5 or New TEPS 202, or the specified equivalent evidence; it also describes a qualifying period of English-medium secondary schooling with school confirmation. Confirm the accepted test version, score validity, your chosen route and its graduation-language conditions. Some bilingual, scholarship and partner-university arrangements may relax the Korean-entry standard, but the guide does not establish that every international student or department qualifies. Admission evidence does not establish the language of teaching.
Course fees
The 2026 guide fully waives the application fee for category 2 applicants under the foreign-parent and whole-overseas-school-education routes. This is an application-fee waiver, not a tuition waiver, and must not be applied to other applicant categories. Tuition, accommodation and other charges are not established by this waiver. Ask for the current fees and written payment and refund terms for your route and intended intake.
Intake
The 2026 category 2 application windows have closed. The guide listed 7 July 2025–28 February 2026 for March entry, and 1 March–31 August 2026 for September entry. These are dated guide windows, not current open places. Ask for the next published intake, application and document deadlines.
