TEACHING INSTITUTIONPOSTECH
About this institution Develop computer-science research through POSTECH’s master’s pathway. The department combines required coursework with research credits, advisor-supervised thesis work and degree-specific publication or examination conditions. Its March 2026 graduate catalogue includes advanced computer architecture, operating systems, databases and machine-learning implementation. Confirm your research topic, supervision and module availability; individual subjects are not additional degree programmes.

- Study mode
- Research-based graduate study combining coursework, supervised thesis or dissertation work and oral examination. Confirm class attendance, laboratory access, research arrangements and available supervision with your department.
- Duration
- The April 2026 university milestone chart labels a two-year programme framework, with minimum academic residence of 2 semesters and at least 28 graduation credits for this degree. Confirm your department’s study plan, additional requirements and actual research duration; the framework is not a guaranteed time to the award. CSE separately lists 18 coursework credits and 10 research credits within its 28-credit degree requirement.
- Entry requirements
- A qualifying bachelor’s degree is required before enrolment. Meet the guide’s nationality/parent-nationality or complete-overseas-education category, with documentary evidence. Provide accepted English test evidence or a qualifying sealed medium-of-instruction certificate/exemption. Confirm test versions, department assessment and individual document requirements. Graduation requirements are separate from admission: The master’s flow lists a three-person thesis committee, including the advisor, to be selected within the third semester. It asks for thesis-examination and comprehensive-exam reports, a thesis abstract, and a first-author paper published or accepted in a domestic or international journal or conference. Confirm the precise publication and examination rules for your cohort. For cohorts from 2025, the page allows up to nine graded graduate credits from other departments; earlier cohorts have different limits. Up to six eligible CSE undergraduate 300/400-level credits can be recognised under the current graded-course rules; do not combine credit caps automatically. The CSE seminar must be taken for at least two semesters. GEDU501 English paper writing is compulsory under the rules from 2022. GEDU502 is listed for doctoral/integrated students, rather than as a master’s requirement. Research ethics ICEC501 is compulsory from the 2023 cohorts and does not count toward graduation credits. Required English courses are also excluded from the graduation-credit total. The thesis is to be written in English. The TA rule from 2022 lists four hours for this degree, but the page does not define the reporting period; confirm the workload and remaining university rules with your advisor. The April 2026 university graduation framework additionally lists a minimum GPA of 3.0; the scale is not stated in that milestone chart, so confirm the current scale and departmental standards. This is a graduation requirement, not a new entrance-GPA threshold. The thesis is written in English, with an abstract of no more than 1,000 words and a Korean summary. Defence copies are due at least 15 days before the defence, with three copies for a master’s candidate. The guideline distinguishes the defence report, normally due 31 December for February graduates or 30 June for August graduates, from final thesis deposit on the second Friday of January or July. Dates may change with the academic calendar. It describes electronic final submission and also lists hard copies in its milestone chart; confirm current library delivery and copy requirements. Follow research-ethics and plagiarism-check procedures, and confirm any additional departmental graduation or publication conditions.
- Course fees
- The 2026–27 guide lists a non-refundable application fee of KRW 80,000 or USD 80, payable in either stated currency. Partner-university waivers and special payment deferrals require confirmation. Tuition and other charges are separate. Confirm the next cycle’s fee and current invoice before paying. The university academic-policy page, updated 6 February 2025, describes full applicable tuition for regular graduate semesters and one-third for an additional semester; it does not establish a base amount or when your additional-semester rate begins. Its tuition-withdrawal reference is five-sixths within 30 days from semester start, two-thirds on days 31–60, half on days 61–90 and no refund from day 91, with exceptions and case-specific decisions. Entrance fees are non-refundable under that policy; application-charge terms remain separate. Confirm the current invoice, registration period and refund category. For TA/RA appointments, the 2026 reference model lists a monthly KRW 884,000 tuition-support component plus KRW 966,000 living support, totalling KRW 1,850,000. These are funding components rather than a personal tuition bill or a guaranteed award. Actual lab amounts and later RA support may depend on performance; request your applicable appointment and funding terms. No monthly-to-annual, scholarship-adjusted or net tuition price is inferred.
- Intake
- The cited Spring 2027 application round closed on 11 September 2026 at 18:00 Korean Standard Time. Confirm the next published round and programme availability. The guide does not establish a currently open application or available place. The department’s second-round table separately lists advisor selection for designated candidates from 21 October at 17:00 to 4 November 2026 at 17:00, and final results on 19 November at 14:00. These are selection stages after the closed 6 July–11 September application window, rather than another opportunity to apply. Confirm whether matching applies to your degree and international route, and confirm the timezone of the department’s displayed times. The page retains a 2025–2026 table caption beneath a 2026–2027 heading; no general deadline extension or corrected year is assumed.
