- Entry requirements
- For spring 2027 freshman admission, the published routes require a foreign applicant who either has two foreign parents or completed all educational courses outside Korea. Regular high-school graduation or expected graduation and the applicable language evidence are required. Dual nationality, high-school qualifying examinations, home-schooling and cyber-education recognition are excluded. Applicants using the overseas-education route must provide the specified evidence for their entire elementary, middle and high-school education. Prepare the application, financial-support affidavit, personal-information agreement, high-school diploma and transcript, family relationship or birth evidence, nationality evidence, passport and applicable language certificate. Submit the online application and the required documents by post or visit. Where documents cannot arrive by the deadline, the guide permits emailed copies by that deadline followed by the required originals; confirm the arrangement with admissions. Final original or supplementary documents are due by 19 February 2027. Documents in another language need Korean or English translations, with a translator confirmation form under the guide’s stated conditions. Academic authentication depends on the qualification and country; separate requirements apply to Chinese vocational-school qualifications. For Chinese family relationship evidence, the household register is not accepted alone: the specified police or notarial relationship certificate is needed. Language certificates must be valid at application and issued within two years. The published financial reference for successful applicants is a bank balance over KRW 16,000,000. Applicants in Korea use their own Korean bank account; overseas applicants may use their own or a parent’s account. The schedule describes a certificate issued within 30 days before a visa application for applicants in Korea and within 30 days of submission overseas. The checklist uses different wording, so confirm the required account, amount and certificate date before obtaining a statement. Assessment allocates 40 points to language proficiency, 40 to scholastic ability and 20 to attitude and etiquette. A total below 60 leads to rejection; the guide also lists a rejection condition where two or more interviewers assign the lowest score of 24 points. Interviews may use Korean or English, with in-person arrangements in Korea and phone or video interviews overseas; department-specific performance assessment may apply. Confirm your interview details and any later university updates. Admission does not guarantee a visa, scholarship, accommodation, professional registration or employment. Korean-track entry alternatives include TOPIK or TOPIK iBT Level 2 or higher, JBNU’s own Level 2 test, qualifying Korean Homeland Education, or completion at a Korean language education centre in Korea. The centre-completion threshold is Level 4. Applicants entering with TOPIK Level 2 or JBNU’s own Level 2 must immediately complete two semesters of JBNU’s Korean Language Programme. Korean-track graduation requires TOPIK Level 4 or higher. The Namwon exception from two language-study semesters does not establish a graduation-language exemption. The published first-year grouping is Engineering Division 1. Your department or major is selected when you apply; this is not a free choice of major after the first year. Confirm your curriculum and any later change-of-major rules. The Korean guide takes precedence if translations differ. Tuition figures in the guide refer to autumn 2026 and may change for spring 2027; confirm the current invoice and scholarship conditions.
