Entry requirements
A qualifying bachelor’s degree is required; confirm recognition of your qualification against the guide’s four-year-university wording. Meet the university’s international-applicant nationality rules for you and both parents, including citizenship timing; Korean dual nationality and stateless status are excluded. Meet one of the guide’s accepted language-evidence routes, with valid certificates and any documented exemption conditions. Confirm department recruitment, teaching language and document authentication before applying. Expected graduates must confirm the degree-completion and certificate-submission dates with the university. The department lists 24 graduation credits. Its graduate examination asks for two questions in the chosen field and one in another field. Entrants from another major must complete all four specified undergraduate prerequisites in introductory Korean literature, introductory Korean linguistics, modern Korean fiction and classical Korean poetry reading. Apply for an advisor in semester one and submit a supervised, reviewed thesis plan in semester two. A public thesis presentation is scheduled in the semester of thesis submission application. The General Graduate School’s posted thesis guidance asks for the final approved file within one month after review, a scanned committee-approved page bearing all committee seals and any required copyright/embargo documentation. It removes printed-thesis submission from the late-graduation cohort of academic year 2024 onward; confirm the current library calendar and any additional department copies. Thesis/abstract language must follow the school’s corresponding-language rules and departmental approval; permission for a foreign-language thesis does not establish English teaching.
Course fees
Spring 2027 graduate application fee: KRW 30,000, payable through the university’s application service. This is an application-processing charge. Tuition, living costs and other charges are separate; confirm the applicable amounts and payment/refund terms before applying.
Intake
Spring 2027: apply 19 October–13 November 2026; documents due 19 November 2026. Confirm the exact cut-off time, time zone and schedule updates. Department recruitment and admission are subject to assessment.
