Entry requirements

For the Spring 2027 international graduate intake, the guide defines eligible applicants as foreign nationals whose parents are both foreign nationals. Doctoral applicants need a recognised master’s degree or equivalent; expected graduates must complete the degree before entry. The stated language routes are TOPIK level 3 or above, or completion of Sejong Korean Intermediate 1; Korean Language Education Cooperative Course applicants need TOPIK 6. English alternatives are TOEFL iBT 3.5 for tests taken from 21 January 2026 (tests through 20 January 2026 use the former 59-point scale, subject to the two-year validity rule and the guide’s 20 January 2028 maximum), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, New TEPS 202, or an equivalent recognised national private English test such as TOEIC. Applicants without one of these scores may submit a language-ability confirmation signed by a prospective supervisor after contacting the department. The guide describes an exemption for nationals of countries where English is a native or legally official language who provide proof of secondary or higher education there. Admission-language evidence does not establish the language of teaching. The standard financial-document route requests a bank balance of at least KRW 16,000,000 in the applicant’s or financial guarantor’s name; parents are the usual guarantors. The certificate must be issued within 30 days of the application deadline and the balance maintained until admission. The guide separately describes a simplified KRW 8,000,000 route for current Mokpo National University students progressing to a higher course; confirm whether that exception applies. One department may be selected per application. Confirm accepted documents and individual eligibility with the university. The doctoral restriction table excludes applicants holding or expecting a master’s degree in a humanities-field department.

Course fees

Spring 2027 application fee: KRW 50,000 per application (KRW 25,000 general administration + KRW 25,000 interview). The guide says the fee is generally non-refundable; only the interview portion is returned in the stated cases of unavoidable non-attendance or when an ineligible applicant is not offered an interview. The tuition table is explicitly for semester 2 of 2026 and says 2027 tuition may change after the fee committee decision; 2027 tuition is not verified.

Intake

Spring 2027, second round: applications and documents 1–15 December 2026, by 18:00; interview 29 December 2026 at 10:00; results 12 January 2027 at 14:00; tuition payment 13–15 January 2027, by 18:00. The guide says the schedule may change. The time zone is not stated; confirm the final programme list, available places and dates with the university. Round one has closed; this does not confirm that this programme has open places in round two.
