Undergraduate Freshman Entry — Global & Interdisciplinary Studies, Pukyong National University

TEACHING INSTITUTIONPUKYONG NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
About this institution

Begin undergraduate study in Pukyong National University’s Korean-track Division of Global & Interdisciplinary Studies. The first year combines Korean and general education with major exploration, extracurricular activities and academic counselling. Students may move to their chosen specialist major from the second year, following the university’s assessment and rules. This is one freshman entry route; the later-major and transfer lists are not presented as separately admitted first-year programmes. Confirm progression options, the current curriculum and the eventual degree award for your chosen major.

PUKYONG NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Campus
Pukyong National University, 45 Yongso-ro, Nam-gu, Busan 48513. The submission office is the Office of International Affairs, Room 101, Mirae Building (A21), at Daeyeon Campus. This is an admissions address; confirm the classrooms and campus arrangements for your first year and later major.
Location
Busan
Teaching language
The freshman admission unit is explicitly the Korean track, with Korean and general education in the first year. Confirm the teaching and assessment languages for your later major. Graduate English-test admission routes do not establish English-medium undergraduate delivery.
Duration
The guide places freshmen in the division for their first year, with specialist-major progression from the second year. It does not establish the full completion period for every eventual major; confirm your degree length, credits and progression requirements. The first-year division is not a one-year bachelor’s degree.
Entry requirements
Type A requires the applicant and both parents to have foreign nationality at the applicant’s birth. Type B concerns foreign applicants educated through the full overseas school curriculum, but undergraduate Type B entry is limited to the September intake. Confirm your category, including any Korean dual nationality, stateless status, divorce or deceased-parent evidence. Freshman applicants need completed or expected 12-year school education from a recognised institution; the guide restricts certain GED, self-study, correspondence, home and online qualifications, with a limited alternative-school/Korean-GED exception requiring individual assessment. TOPIK level 3 is the general undergraduate entry benchmark; TOPIK 4 is a graduation condition and certain transfer units have separate level-4 rules. The conditional no-score route requires the university form and test-registration evidence, followed by the official score within seven days of its announcement in the permitted cycle; it is not an unconditional language waiver. Prepare the online application, Korean-typed personal statement/study plan, signed printed forms, passport with the stated remaining validity, academic certificates/transcripts, family and parent-nationality evidence and financial documents. Follow the applicable authentication and notarised Korean/English-translation instructions; Chinese applicants must use the appropriate English CHSI or school-type verification route and supply translated Hukou records, with extra relationship evidence if family members appear in separate records. The financial reference is at least KRW 16,000,000 using the permitted applicant or parent evidence. A parent’s account needs the specified employment/income or business/tax documents. The Korean undergraduate checklist measures bank-document issuance within 30 days of the application opening, while the Korean common financial section uses the submission date; obtain confirmation of the accepted window rather than treating either as a deposit-holding period. Vietnam’s note specifies Shinhan or Woori Bank, maintaining the amount until admission and providing transaction history from the same account after acceptance. The university’s KRW 8,000,000 direct higher-degree progression exception and graduate-advisor guarantee are not ordinary freshman alternatives. Admission and visa financial certificates are separate. Submit the required online and posted/in-person documents on time; email or fax does not replace the specified submission. Keep difficult-to-reissue originals where the guide permits certified copies, and obtain the complete current checklist. Admission does not guarantee major progression, a scholarship or a visa.
Course fees
The Spring 2026 guide states that the application fee is waived; confirm the policy for your actual intake. Its separate international-freshman tuition row is a 2025 reference and does not explicitly state the billing period, so no tuition amount or current invoice is quoted here. Confirm tuition, any admission charge, insurance, accommodation, other compulsory costs and refund terms. The historical freshman admission-scholarship table lists first-semester tuition support of 100% for TOPIK 5 or 6, or approximately 40% for TOPIK 4, subject to current assessment and availability. Separate PKNU language-course awards require at least two consecutive passed semesters, average attendance of at least 85%, and undergraduate progression within one year of course completion, with further TOPIK-band conditions. They are not automatic benefits for every language-course student. Some awards cannot be combined. Do not add award percentages or infer a net fee; obtain your individual award and payment confirmation.
Intake
Historical Spring 2026 entry: online applications and supporting documents were scheduled for 13 October–21 November 2025, with results and tuition payment in January 2026. For final academic documents, the Korean schedule states 20 February 2026 at 17:00 Korean Time; the English schedule instead says 28 February. The guide expressly gives priority to its Korean version when translations differ. Both dates are past. Confirm the next intake, current deadlines, delivery rules and available places. Undergraduate Type B applicants are restricted to September admission in the guide and cannot assume the Spring route applies to them.
