Entry requirements
A bachelor’s background is usually in science, engineering or mathematics, with CS or related preparation preferred. The published admission minimum is GPA 3.00/4.00; the Fall 2025 handbook also asks for B-level performance overall and in science, mathematics and engineering coursework. Conditional admission with remedial CS courses may be considered in exceptional cases, rather than guaranteed. CS MS GRE scores are listed as required, with a specified US-citizen/permanent-resident exception; the AMS/Data Science waiver is not this programme’s rule. Prepare a personal statement, three recommendations and transcripts with an official English translation where needed. Unofficial records may support initial review, but final official degree-conferral documents are required after admission. Confirm your English-test exemption or applicable Master’s test requirement: the admissions page lists TOEFL iBT 80 before 21 January 2026 and 4.5 after that date, IELTS overall 6.5 with no subsection recommended below 6, or Gateway 495. Its exact TOEFL boundary date needs confirmation. Confirm visa-specific apostille/CoA documentation with admissions. Under the linked Fall 2025 edition, graduation requires at least 31 CSE graduate credits, GPA 3.0, and grades of C or better or S as applicable. It specifies three breadth areas, while the programme webpage also contains a conflicting four-area statement; agree the complete applicable handbook edition with the department. Basic Project requires nine lecture courses including an approved project-based course, with optional zero-credit CSE 522 under that edition; the webpage’s three-credit CSE 522 wording differs. Advanced Project requires seven lecture courses plus the CSE 523/524 sequence with the same advisor across two semesters. Thesis requires six lecture courses and 6–9 CSE 599 credits, with an approved committee of at least three CS faculty, an advisor who does not chair it, and any defence required by the committee. Advanced/Thesis students select an advisor by the beginning of semester two. CSE 516/517/595 do not count as lecture courses at SUNY Korea under this edition. For an optional New York research visit, the handbook separately requires GPA at least 3.5, B+ or better in all SUNY Korea CS courses, and at least two semesters and 18 CSE credits excluding ESL, plus approval; these are visit conditions, not admission criteria or a visa/work-right guarantee.
Course fees
Application charge: KRW 120,000, or the alternative dollar-payment amount listed as $100. These are alternative amounts, not two charges; confirm the dollar currency and accepted payment route. Request a current itemised tuition invoice: the school’s full-time graduate tuition table has a Fall 2026 heading but a Spring 2025 caption, with separate non-NYS and NY State resident columns. Its dollar currency, applicable period and your residency category need confirmation. Course/class-specific charges are excluded and housing is separate. Follow your own billing notice for payment dates; no annual, net or guaranteed funded price is inferred. The Fall 2025 Korea-specific handbook describes assistantships for some MS students, subject to Graduate School approval and available funds; no funding or tuition reduction is guaranteed. Any approved New York visit needs its own budget and current invoice.
Intake
The admissions page lists recurring Fall 1 June and Spring 1 December deadlines without a year or time zone. Confirm the current cycle, programme availability and international-document timing before applying; an open intake is not established here.
